Analytica Expo (Analytica)'2009. Press release. Results The 7th International specialized exhibition Analytica/Analytica Expo was held from April 21 till April 24, 2009. The event was organized by MVK International Exhibition Company together with ROSCHEMREACTIV Non-for-Profit Partnership, RAS Scientific Council on Analytical Chemistry, and Association of analytical centres ANALITIKA. For the second time the show was held in the Crocus Expo exhibition Centre. 138 companies demonstrated their products in the sections dedicated to analytical equipment, control and measuring devices, laboratory furniture, chemical agents, nanotechnologies, nanomaterials and bioanalytics in halls 6 and 7 of pavilion 2. The official opening ceremony was opened by Andrei Lapshin, President of MVK International Exhibition Company, Academician Zolotov, Chairman of the RAS Scientific Council on Analytical Chemistry and Cand.Sc. (Chemistry) A. Vendilo, Honorary Chemist, President of ROSCHEMREACTIV Non-for-Profit Partnership. The exhibition is a common information platform for the scientists, researchers, manufacturers of raw materials, tools and equipment, and the representatives of the state and public organizations. It has become a traditional trade fair demonstrating the upcoming trends of the analytical analysis, metrology and related disciplines. The exhibition subjects are updating alongside with the new market trends and at present time covers nanotechnologies, nanomaterials and bioanalytics. Business programme The business programme started on the second exhibition day. The organizers together with ROSCHEMREACTIV Non-for-Profit Partnership, RAS Scientific Council on Analytical Chemistry, and Association of analytical centres ANALITIKA created favourable conditions for business networking. On April 22 the RAS Scientific Council on Analytical Chemistry held a seminar on mass spectrometry. The report was delivered by Cand.Sc. (Chemistry) A. Lebedev. The seminar aroused meticulous attention and drew more than fifty attendees. Seven reports by the researchers from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ryazan were programme. The majority of reports (four) touched upon the developments of domestic mass spectrometers. The industry is reviving after a long period of stagnation caused by lack of financial investments and outflow of skilled workers. For instance, at present time isotopic appliances for atomic power engineering conform to international standards (report by L.N. Gaal). Gas-dynamic method of ionization proved to be a challenging alternative to the method of inductively coupled plasma (ICP). Auxiliary facilities of enhancement of fragmentation work well for inorganic ions. The researches with organic molecules were started as well (N.R. Gaal). Mass spectrometry is a reliable and express method of sequencing of peptides. A new sequencing algorithm was introduced by T.Y. Samgina. E.S. Chernetsova outlined the opportunities of tandem mass-spectrometry for pharmacokinetic research and diacrisis of disease. Due to electrospraying and Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) it became possible to carry out examination of high molecular weight compounds. The lecture by R.N. Borisov was dedicated to the practical aspects of mass spectrometry of synthetic polymers. The seminar also welcomed announcement of a new book by V.G. Zaikin published by the All-Russian Mass-Spectrometric Society, “Mass-spectrometry of synthetic materials”. On April 22 the ROSCHEMREACTIV Non-for-Profit Partnership organized a panel session and seminar. The key topic for discussion during the panel session “Environmental and industrial safety in the sphere of chemical’s manufacture and turnover in Russian Federation” was project preparation of technical regulation “On safety of chemical products”. The discussion involved the representatives of the Russian Federal Service for Ecological, Technical and Atomic Supervision (ROSTEKHNADZOR). Assistance of CJSC Chromatech SDB made it possible to hold a seminar “Advanced methods of sample preparation in ecological analyses”. In the course of discussion the seminar participants discussed the present state of analytical control of the environmental entity. They touched upon the sample preparation methods, methodological ware, analytical equipment and development challenges. The seminar welcomed participation of the heads and experts of analytical laboratories engaged in control of environmental media (air, water and soil control). On April 23 the exhibition programme of events covered the seminar on accreditation and quality assurance of analytical works organized by the ANALITICA Association of Analytical Centres. The seminar focused on the ever topical problems of traceability of measurements. The seminar also touched upon no less important problems of inner laboratory quality control with application of computer programmes, as well as problems of international recognition of analytical laboratories and report by I.V. Boldyrev, the Executive Director of the Analitika Association concerning a new regulation on development of Passport, one of the key laboratory documents. The exhibition demonstrated the developments and products of JSC SPETSKOMPLEKTRESURS 2001, AWTech Advanced Worldwide Technologies, CJSC LABTEST which also held their seminar-presentations. JSC SPETSKOMPLEKTRESURS 2001 introduced equipment for bioassay of various test subjects (Climatostat R2 and V2, “Bioassay Laboratory”) and for control of the environment media. The company offers a computerized fluorometer Photon 10. It makes possible to carry out the water bioassay basing on registration of chlorophyll fluorescence of chlorella for one hour and chlorophyll fluorescence of daphnia for several hours. With its help it is possible to timely control the quality of sewage purification at the municipal disposal facilities. The methods and equipment were worked out at the Siberian Federal University and recommended for governmental ecological control and in its characteristics considerably superior to its domestic and foreign competitors. One more sample preparation device, the Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) can analyze any matter regardless of its physical state, be it solid, liquid or gas. The main LIBS advantage is simple sample preparation, multivariate analysis and rapid results (1-3 min.). AWTech Advanced Worldwide Technologies held a seminar on the role of ESCO devices for formation of controlled working environment. The report was made by Cand.Sc. (Biology) A. Y. Khokhlov. To ensure high quality of products in the conditions of contemporary production it is necessary to pay special attention to air in working spaces. Pollution and contamination negatively influence the added value. However, construction of pure premises is not always economically and technically sound. Modular cleanroom systems Esco Streamline® Soft Capsule™ will help solving the problem and cut down the investor’s expanses. They are modular cleanroom system constructed using a steel frame (available with different surfaces, e.g. stainless steel) with IsoStat® antistatic vinyl curtains surrounding the work area. Air is taken in through pre-filters from the top of the cleanroom, filtered, and circulated into the enclosure. Positive pressure is maintained within the cleanroom in order to prevent the entry of contamination. Equipped with standard that Airstream® Fan Filter Units that offer a wide range of configurations and optional features, Streamline® Soft Capsules™ are one of the most economical free-standing modular cleanrooms on the market. LTD LABTEST introduced appliances for element analysis and analysis of specific surface area and porosity analysis. Mr. Jeff Dixon made a presentation on porosity analysis with help of NOVA, Autosorb, Quadrasorb analyzers, pore size distribution methods. Mr. Graham Movatt told about the sample preparation facilities and standard samples from company SPEX CertiPrep. LAMSYSTEMS CC and Intertech Corporation organized business meetings with partners, dealers and distributors, discussed the development horizons and vistas and promotion of developments both in Russia and abroad. Competition The exhibition display proves Analytica | Analytica Expo is the best way to most fully demonstrate the advantages of products.
